Welcome to Stoke Prior First School Governors' webpage, we hope it provides a clear insight into what our roles and responsibilities are and who we all are.
We also include copies of our Newsletters and would welcome any feedback or comments that you may have regarding any of the information.
What is the responsibility of the Governing Body?
The governing body has responsibility for ensuring the good conduct and high standards of educational achievement in the school. A Governing Body should act in the interests of the children and also act as a critical friend to the Headteacher.
The three main roles of the Governing Bodies are;
The different types of Governors'
Parent Governor - nominated by parents of the children who attend the school and are then elected by the Governors
Local Authority Governor - nominated by the Local Authority and elected by the Governors
Co-opted Governor - selected by the Governing Body as having relevant skills required
Staff Governor - Teaching Staff representative and Headteacher
Associate Member - appointed by the Governing Body due to having relevant expertise and experience. Can vote at Committee meetings but not at Full Governing Board meetings.
Governors’ of Stoke Prior First School (appointed for 4 year terms of office):
Date of Resignation
We have three committees at the school and each governor sits on one committee:
Finance & Premises Committee
Andy Wood - Committee Chair
Curriculum & Standards Committee
Gemma Pullen - Committee Chair (acting)
Kerri Monaghan - Committee Chair
Many of the Governors are at school on a daily basis and it would be great to get some feedback from parents. To achieve this we endeavour to attend all school events to ensure all parents have an opportunity to share their comments and views of the school.
